Happy Christmas to Writers Everywhere.

christmas card from practical creative writingI don’t know what other writers do for Christmas but this year I am taking a few days just to rest and reflect.

I have heard of writers who write every single day of the year, including Christmas day and that’s wonderful if it suits them but for me, I often find a complete break gives my mind a chance to recharge.

Sometimes during a break, I will find new ideas and if I do then, of course, I write them down – lest I forget but that’s all.

I like to catch up reading – reading is as important for writers as writing and I wrote about the importance of reading for writers here.

If you are a complete beginner and want to make a start on your writing journey then I recommend you check out this page which will give you everything you need to get started.

If you are one of those writers who like to write every day or if you like to use some of your holiday break to write then you might like to try some of these exercises.

Whatever you decide to do I wish you all the very best and good luck with your writing.
