Ireland in writing

galway-sunsetWelcome to Ireland in writing. Ireland has long been renowned for its writing and many writers from other countries have chosen to make Ireland their creative base. Whether it’s the rugged landscape, or the air that inspires us I don’t know but I do know that wherever you go in this small country there is always something creative happening.

CHANGES IN PUBLISHING

The form of these creative happenings is changing however and it will be interesting to learn how writers in Ireland are coping with these changes.  The whole landscape of publishing is changing continually and every day new challenges arise for the writer. Gone are the days when all we needed was a pen and paper. Now we must be computer literate, proficient in social media and marketing, and we must understand the different challenges facing us as the traditional publishing industry continues to change and more and more of us are turning to self publishing.

What does all this mean to writers in contemporary Ireland? I want to find out and so I have decided it’s about time I dedicated a section of this site to learning more about the writers who live and work among us today.

INTERVIEWS WITH WRITERS

I feel the best way to do this is through a series of short interviews inviting writers to tell us more about their lives and their work.

Over the coming months I will be interviewing writers who write in various different formats including fiction, non-fiction, screenplays, animation and comic.

I hope to start this within the next week and I will keep you posted.
